Platypus Month - Namarag Nature Reserve surveys

  • Time: 4:30pm - 6:30pm
  • Location: Namarag Nature Reserve
  • Cost: No cost
  • Bookings: Book through Eventbrite
There are platypus and rakali living in the rivers and creeks of the Upper Murrumbidgee region. Platypus and rakali are top predators in these waterways. By keeping track of how many there are, we can learn how healthy the water is. Waterwatch runs group surveys in August at selected rivers across the ACT region. You can join as many surveys as you like, and you don’t need any experience. Each survey takes about 2 hours. This includes meeting at the site, getting a short briefing, walking to the spotting area, watching for platypus for 1 hour, and then returning to hand in your data sheet. These surveys help us learn more about our platypus and rakali populations.
