Have you ever wondered about the native animals who share your backyard? Being a wildlife detective involves using your senses - sight, hearing, smell and touch - to identify which animals are present in the environment. Come along and use your detective skills to look for clues such as tracks, nests and even scratch marks on trees.

Bring a picnic lunch and soak up the historic atmosphere, listen to stories and recollections by locals including the Tidbinbilla Pioneers within the serene gardens of the Rock Valley Homestead at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve - where nature and culture collide.

Share some billy tea and damper (weather permitting), have fun with kids' craft and old-style games whilst you enjoy listening to music and poetry.

See the ACT mammal emblem, the southern brush-tailed rock-wallaby, as you watch our Wildlife Vet do a health check as part of our threatened species breeding programs. Listen to Dr Ari describe all the cool features of the animal, while observing her work up close.

Seth Lazar Exhibition

Seth is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University and has been a photographer for a long time. In 2016 he fell in love with the night sky and began taking photos of the Milky Way. Come along to the Visitor Centre and check out his amazing photos. You will be mesmerised and you may walk away with a different perspective of our night skies.
