Nil Desperandum

Nestled in a tranquil, natural bush setting beneath the Tidbinbilla Range, Nil Desperandum maintains its heritage charm and offers visitors a feeling of remoteness just a short drive away from the centre of Canberra.

The historic European pisé house provides a beautiful, rustic wilderness experience.

Access to Nil Desperandum is by 4WD or AWD vehicles ONLY. Alternatively, a marked walking trail will lead you to historic cottage (12km return).

Facilities

Nil Desperandum has two bedrooms, a kitchen with wood stove, veranda and a fenced yard. There is solar lighting, a shared long drop toilet, rainwater to the kitchen, an outside gas BBQ and a fire pit. Guests are required to bring their own firewood or purchase it from the Visitor Information Centre.

Wood and kindling cannot be collected from any ACT National Park or Reserve.

There is no electricity supply at Nil Desperandum and very limited mobile reception, which adds to your off-the-grid experience.
