Governance

Birrigai at Tidbinbilla is designated as a School in Special Circumstances by the ACT Education and Training Directorate, and described in the ACT Education Act 2004 (the Act).

Under the Act, Birrigai is required to have a School Board and to comply with Education and Training Directorate policies.

Birrigai School Board

The School Board is the policy making body for Birrigai’s educational program. Responsibilities of the Board include school planning and improvement and the development and review of school policies and goals. The Board is linked by common members to the Tidbinbilla Board of Management. 

Board membership consists of the Principal, the Tidbinbilla General Manager, a member of the Birrigai teaching staff, a staff member from Tidbinbilla, an Education and Training Directorate manager, an external Principal, a representative of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, two members of the Tidbinbilla Board and an appointed member.

The Board meets four times a year.

Members of the school community are encouraged to approach the School Board with ideas or suggestions.  Please contact Birrigai.
